Youth Program

GREEK ORTHODOX YOUTH OF AMERICA (GOYA)

GOYA

(pronounced “Goy-yah”) is the name for the "youth group" in all Greek Orthodox Christian parishes across the Unites States. The National Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries recommends that the GOYA ministry be based on the following four characteristics: (1) Worship (Liturgia), (2) Fellowship (Koinonia), (3) Service (Diakonia), and (4) Witness (Martyria). To learn more about how GOYAn's can participate in each of these characteristics, click here.

GOYA AT HOLY TRINITY

GOYA at Holy Trinity in Tulsa is a fun-loving and God-loving group in grades 7 thru 12. They participate is many activities and events, some of which are listed below.

PHILANTHROPY

Some of the charities that we support are: International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), Special Olympics, Salvation Army, local food pantries and homeless shelters, and more.

ANNUAL DIOCESAN BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Our annual basketball tournament is a gathering of all the Metropolis of Denver parishes. The tournament includes basketball competition, mixers, liturgy with His Eminence, the Metropolitan Isaiah (Bishop), and fun, fun and more fun!

CAMP EMMANUEL

Camp Emmanuel is a summer camp retreat for Orthodox youth throughout the Denver Diocese.

RETREATS

Each year, our GOYA spring retreat occurs during Lent, the spiritual fasting period leading up to Pascha (Easter). It is held at Sky Ranch with other GOYA's from the Denver Diocese. We also hold a fall retreat, which is held at different locations.

FELLOWSHIP

Our GOYAn's seem to always be enjoying themselves and each other? You can often find them at pool parties, bowling, laser tag, cookouts, fundraisers, bake sales; hosting holiday parties and BINGO for the parish; riding in car caravans to Oklahoma City to support St. George Greek Orthodox Church’s Greek Festival; volunteering at various parish events, such as vacation Bible school, the annual Greek Festival, and the annual Stewardship Luncheon.

GREEK DANCING

Every year at Holy Trinity's Greek Festival, our GOYAn's comprise the Young Olympians Greek Dance troupe. They work hard, practicing throughout the year on their skills, poise and presence. Their costumes are stunning, their dance skills are impressive, and their joy of dancing and Greek culture is contagious!
